NEW HAVEN COMMEMORATES 20TH WORLD AIDS DAY
(12/1/2009) NEW HAVEN- Tuesday, December 1, 2009 marks the twentieth recognition of World AIDS Day in New Haven. New Haven’s program is one of many events globally that aim to focus world attention on the HIV/AID pandemic.
On Tuesday, a collaboration of New Haven AIDS Service organizations, working in concert with the New Haven Mayor’s Task Force on AIDS, will come together to commemorate and remember those who have survived and those who have perished from HIV/AIDS. This year’s event will be offered at the United Church of Christ on the New Haven Green at noontime. Keeping in mind the work remaining to be accomplished in dealing with universal access, stigma and discrimination, this World AIDS Day is meant to again focus the community’s attention on the goals still ahead.
The public is invited to attend the service at the United Church of Christ on Tuesday at noon until 1:00 P.M. After the program, individuals are welcome to remain at the church for refreshments.
